Concrete Patios
Turn your backyard into a space you actually use — with a concrete patio built to handle real life and look good year after year.

Why Concrete Beats Wood Decks and Pavers for Patios
A lot of homeowners start out looking at wood decks or interlocking pavers before they circle back to concrete. And once they see the full picture, concrete usually wins. Here is why.
Wood decks look great the day they are built. But within a few years, they are warping, splitting, graying, and collecting moisture. You are re-staining, re-sealing, replacing boards. In a climate like Santa Rosa's where we get real wet winters, wood deteriorates faster than most people expect. Pavers are better, but they shift over time, weeds grow in the gaps, and replacing damaged pieces means hunting for matching stock.
Concrete sidesteps all of that. Here is what you get when you choose a concrete patio:
- One solid surface — no shifting, no weeds pushing through joints
- Can be colored, stamped, or textured to match your style
- Handles heavy furniture, grills, and foot traffic without buckling
- Cleans up easily with a hose or pressure washer
- Lasts 25 to 40 years with minimal maintenance
- More affordable upfront and far cheaper long-term than wood
Your Patio, Your Look
Finish and design options for any style
One of the things people do not expect about concrete is how many ways it can look. Plain gray is just the starting point. If you want something that feels more upscale, there are a lot of directions we can take your patio.
Stamped concrete is one of our most popular choices for patios. We press patterns into the fresh concrete that mimic the look of flagstone, slate, brick, or tile — at a fraction of the cost of real stone. You get the visual depth of natural materials with the structural reliability of concrete. Pair it with an acid stain or color hardener and the results can be genuinely stunning.
If you prefer something more understated, a brushed or broom finish gives you a clean, classic look with great traction underfoot. Exposed aggregate — where the top layer of cement paste is washed away to reveal the stones beneath — is another popular option that has a natural, textured feel.
We also work closely with you on the layout. Whether you want a simple rectangle off the back door or a sweeping multi-level patio with built-in steps and planters, we can build it. For ideas on what we can do with stamped and decorative concrete, check out that page.
How We Build Your Patio from Start to Finish
We do not just show up and start pouring. A patio done right takes careful preparation, and that is where most of the work happens before any concrete truck pulls up.
First, we meet with you to understand the size, shape, and finish you want. We measure the area, check drainage patterns, and mark where the forms will go. Then we excavate to the proper depth — usually 4 inches for a standard patio — and compact a gravel base to give the slab a stable, well-draining foundation.
We set up the forms, place reinforcement if needed, and pour the concrete. After the pour, we level and smooth the surface, apply your chosen finish, and cut control joints. These joints are critical — they guide where the slab can flex slightly without random cracking across the surface.
Curing is the final stage and it matters more than most people realize. We let the slab cure properly before sealing it — rushing this step is one of the biggest causes of surface problems down the road. You will have a solid, finished patio that is ready to enjoy. If you also need new concrete driveway installation at the same time, we can often coordinate both projects together.
